Erdogan: I condemn this heinous terrorist attack (VIDEO) – Events – The World – NOVA News

“I condemn this heinous terrorist attack and wish God’s mercy for our martyrs,” said Turkish President Recep Erdogan at the time of the terrorist attack in the heart of the country’s military industry. He learned the news at the BRICS forum hosted by Vladimir Putin.

This afternoon, unknown assailants attacked the headquarters of the aviation and space center, which is near Ankara. Five people died and 22 were injured, Turkish authorities said. Two terrorists – a man and a woman – were killed.

A large explosion was heard in the area, followed by gunfire in front of the plant’s entrance gate. Some Turkish media reported that a kamikaze bomber blew himself up, but this has not been officially confirmed. “Our efforts to identify those who committed the crime are continuing. As soon as the identity is confirmed, our country will be told to make it clear which terrorist group is responsible,” said Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

The company where the attack took place is owned by the state. It is one of the most important in Turkey’s defense industry and produces both civil aircraft and helicopters, as well as Kaan – the first Turkish combat aircraft.

“This is a very sensitive sector of the Turkish defense industry. Let’s say that 80% of Turkish arms exports are due to this industry. Looking at how many people are the attackers, this is not a question about a country that did, that did this terrorist attack, but it is an internal Turkish problem. What we have to say is that the Turkish Bayraktar drones are being actively used by the Turkish armed forces in Northern Iraq and in Northern Syria against units of the Syrian Kurds or the PKK who are still operating on

After the attack, NATO chief Mark Rutte offered the alliance’s support to Turkey in a conversation with Erdogan.
