Erdogan: “Hamas is not a terrorist organization” – 2024-04-18 23:51:19

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched a particularly harsh attack against Israel and once again expressed support for Hamas – perhaps the strongest to date – speaking to his party’s Parliamentary Group.

The Turkish president paralleled the action of Hamas “with that of the Turkish nationalists of Kemal during the Asia Minor War”, denying once again that Hamas is a terrorist organization.

“As Tayyip Erdogan, even if I am left alone, I will continue to defend the Palestinian struggle and be the voice of the oppressed Palestinian people as long as God gives me life. Let the whole world hear it”, he characteristically said with the MPs of the ruling AKP party cheering and applauding.

“While no one in the world could speak, we came out and said that Hamas is not a terrorist organization but a resistance group. From the platform of the United Nations, we have shown with maps how Israel has taken step by step the lands of Palestine in the last 70 years. In the most difficult moments of our innocent Palestinian brothers, we mobilized all the means at our disposal in all sectors.

Here, I say very clearly and openly that Hamas is exactly the same as the National Forces in Turkey during the national struggle. Of course, we know there is a price for what we say. The whole world must know that we will not succumb to your assassination attempts, coup attempts, economic attacks and manipulations,” he said.

“Israel is a terrorist state”

The Turkish president called Israel a terrorist state that commits genocide and has been written as a shame in the history of humanity. “The terrorist state of Israel has been committing an inhumane genocide in both Gaza and the West Bank since October 7. With the unconditional support it receives from the West, Israel recklessly carries out a massacre that has already been written in the history of humanity as a shame,” he said specifically.

Escalating his verbal attack on Israel, the Turkish president added: “They killed 14,000 children, they have already surpassed Hitler. We will defend the independence of Palestine under all circumstances, despite those who do not see the death of 14,000 innocent children and try to curry favor with Israel by saying that Hamas is a terrorist organization.”

He also implied that there is an Israeli finger on all the coups or attempted coups that have taken place in Turkey since 1980: “Don’t forget the coup of September 12 (in 1980) that took place after the Jerusalem rally in Iconium, don’t you forget the February 28 (1997) coup d’état that took place after the night (dedicated) to Jerusalem in Xinjiang.

Don’t forget the operation against MIT, the coup attempt on December 17/25 (incl. the judicial investigation into corruption and the police raid on the homes and offices of ruling party officials in 2013), the treason of July 15 (incl. .s. the coup attempt of 2016) made by the traitorous organization FETO, the servant of Zionism, to bend our sensitivity towards Palestine”.

At this point, he recalled that his own sensitivity to the Palestinian issue manifested itself 15 years ago in Davos, when he clashed with the Israeli president at the time, Shimon Peres, interrupting his speech with the phrase “one minute” that went down in history and then leaving the stage of the World Economic Forum.

“Shame on those who question our sensitivity for Palestine”

Responding to accusations from opposition circles that Turkey, despite tough rhetoric, was still doing business with Israel, the Turkish president said: “During the election process and after the election, some unfair accusations were leveled against me and against him. of our party from various centres, and I am sorry to say that these accusations and these vile slanders have found a foothold in certain circles and we have even seen them used against us. Some have brought us, our party, our government and the state of the Turkish Republic into disrepute with claims they know to be false.”

“Some of our movements may not be visible. We may not be able to explain some of our actions. However, those who question our sensitivity about Palestine will sooner or later find themselves in a difficult position and will be ashamed and understand what an injustice they have done in the eyes of History.”

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, is making an official visit to Qatar today, who will meet in Doha with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

Turkish diplomats leak that Hakan Fidan will also meet in Doha with the leadership of Hamas.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will visit Turkey on Saturday with the aim of the developments in the war in Gaza.
