Erdogan declares not recognizing the annexation of Crimea – Russia found a virus in Turkish tomatoes

The Russian regulator for veterinary and phytosanitary supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) has detected a virus in Turkish vegetables and fruits. This became known a few days after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara would never recognize the annexation of Crimea.

In a press release from the regulator, it is noted that brown monilious rot was found in Turkish fruits, and the brown wrinkle virus was found in tomatoes.

The Rosselkhoznadzor clarified that on September 23, negotiations were held with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey. The Russian side asked to strengthen phytosanitary control over products supplied to the Russian Federation. The representatives of the department recalled that the virus found in Turkish tomatoes is a disease that is quarantine in the territory of the Russian Federation.
