The Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP/TANAP) can become an alternative to Russian gas for Europe, the spokesman of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan – Ibrahim Kalan told Haber TV (on the picture).
“One of the two main alternatives is TANAP – a joint project between Turkey and Azerbaijan,” he said.
Earlier, the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, said that Russia has partially reduced or completely stopped gas supplies to 12 EU member states. According to her, the EU receives record deliveries from the USA, Norway, the countries of the Persian Gulf, Algeria and the Caspian Sea region.
Earlier, EU foreign affairs and security policy chief Josep Borrell said the European Union (EU) has halved its purchases of natural gas from Russia since the start of the conflict in Ukraine. He stressed that the European economy cannot be asked to “stop buying gas overnight”.
