The full-scale invasion of the Russian army into Ukraine has become one of the main topics in the negotiations between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“Under the current circumstances, it would be premature to talk about what the future holds for us, right now. We must observe what the circumstances will be. We must maintain our friendship with Mr. Zelensky and Mr. Putin,” Erdogan said at a meeting with Scholz .
Moreover, as the President of Turkey stated, Ankara continues to provide both military and humanitarian assistance to Kiev in the face of a full-scale invasion of the Russian army. According to Erdogan, “we sent more than 50 trucks to Ukraine and continue to send them, which no NATO country has done.”
Journalists, citing the Turkish Exporters Assembly, report that more than $59 million worth of attack drones, ammunition, protective equipment and armored vehicles were sent to Kiev. Arms are delivered through a private company so that Russia has less claims to official Ankara.
On March 11, Turkish President Recep Erdogan has criticized the West and argued that the war in Ukraine could have been avoided as early as 2014. According to the Turkish leader, Western allies did not do enough in the interests of Kyiv at a time when Russia occupied Crimea.
