ANKARA – Presidenn Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan accused Russia, the United States (US) and France of supplying weapons to Armenia. Russia, the US and France are members of the OSCE Minks Group, a group working to solve the Nagorno-Karabakh problem.

“What did they say about our support to our Azerbaijan brothers? What did the three Minsks, US, Russia, France say? They support Armenia. They offer all possible support in terms of weaponry,” Erdogan said, as reported by Tass on Monday ( 19/10/2020).

Russia, as it is known, has a military pact with Armenia, under the umbrella of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Commitment, which does not apply to the Karabakh region. (See graphic: Off the coast of Indonesia will be guarded by advanced Turkish weapons)

The CSTO is a Russian-led military alliance signed in 2002 by seven countries of the former Soviet Union, including Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that if any CSTO member country experiences aggression, other member states will help. However, Peskov said the CSTO agreement does not cover the Karabakh region.

This is not the first time Erdogan has launched attacks on members of the OSCE Minks Group. Earlier, he said that the Minks Group OSCE was stalling for time in dealing with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. (Also read: Pompeo Called Turkey Worsen War in Nagorno Karabakh)

“The US Russia and France are still delaying this with their tactics to buy time. Just give them occupied land. Let them do what they want on their own land,” he said.

“What you need to do is complete your negotiations and hand over the land to the owners,” he said, referring to 30 years of talks between the warring parties and the OSCE Minks Group.
