Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan denounce the confession Russia on the independence of the two regions Ukraine which separates itself as “unacceptable”.
“We consider the decision unacceptable,” Erdogan was quoted as saying by the Turkish news agency, Anatolia and reported AFPTuesday (22/2/2022)., who is currently in Senegal.
“We call on the relevant parties to act with common sense and comply with international law,” the Turkish leader added.
Russian-Ukrainian tensions escalated after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the deployment of troops to two splinter areas in self-proclaimed eastern Ukraine. The deployment order was given after Putin recognized the independence of the two territories that broke away from Ukraine.
As reported by Reuters, Tuesday (22/2/2022), Putin’s decision to recognize the two breakaway territories, the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic, has the potential to further escalate the crisis that is feared to trigger a major war in Europe.
A Reuters witness saw tanks and other military equipment moving through the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk after Putin issued a decree recognizing the independence of the two splinter territories.
Erdoganwho has a good relationship with Russia and Ukraine, have sought to host the leaders of the two countries for a three-way summit in Turkey to ease tensions.
