“You can see if you are really in the right position when the light goes on.” Many adults can still remember this sentence from the ZDF quiz show “1, 2 or 3”. On this Sunday, August 1st, four children from the Erdinger room can be seen in front of and behind the cameras on the TV channel Kika. Henri, Niclas and Lukas from the Berglern elementary school had a lot of fun in the Bavaria film studios in Grünwald. And the camera child Zeno from Erding also enjoyed the day very much. The topic of the contribution was “Wunderwelt Wiese”, the guest in the program was the Dorfen nature filmmaker Jan Haft, who released the documentary “Die Wiese – Ein Paradies next door” in 2019. The questions were very difficult, says Henri. But now he has learned a lot. A lot was about the animals that live in the meadow, and Jan Haft also reported on his work as an animal filmmaker.
In the show, three teams of three children each compete against each other. The children go to fourth or fifth grade and are usually schoolmates. Team blue comes from Germany, team yellow from Austria and team red from another country. “Our quiz show is always TV entertainment, but we try to convey knowledge with the program,” says ZDF editor Reinhard Oswalt. The questions should also be able to be solved by combining and reflecting, which should also appeal to adult viewers.
Zeno’s mother says she watched the show as a child, it has been around for 44 years. Now she was there in the studio and the experience was better than she had imagined. It was exciting to look behind the scenes. The children are also very happy to come, assures Oswalt. That applies fully to the four Erdinger boys. “We practiced for the show at Henri’s home,” says Lukas. “It was my first time on television and I’m really looking forward to the show, we’ll watch it with Henri at Niclas.” The ten-year-old boys dealt with the excitement very cool. “I was nervous about all the cameras, then I imagined that it wasn’t a program on TV, but just a game,” says Henri.
“The camera was already heavy, so someone helped me all the time,” says Zeno, who was allowed to film parts of the show. The ten-year-old does not want to commit himself to a career as a cameraman, “there are still many other professions”. Kika will broadcast the program on August 1st at 5 p.m. The report will also be shown on ZDF on August 8th. It can then be found in the ZDF media library. “The show is a special asset in our fast-moving times,” says Reinhard Oswalt. The presenter Elton contributed to the success, the ZDF had succeeded in adapting the program to the zeitgeist.
