The ERC Ingolstadt sets a big exclamation mark on the transfer market. National player Daniel Pietta moves to Upper Bavaria.
The 33-year-old played his entire career with the Krefeld Pinguinen and now wants to open a new chapter in his already impressive career with the ERC. Pietta will arrive on the Danube tonight and train with the team for the first time tomorrow.
“Daniel has been one of the best strikers in the league for more than a decade and has always performed very well. It’s extremely difficult to get German players at this time of year. The fact that we have now succeeded in hiring a professional with these extremely great qualities is anything but self-evident, “said ERC Sports Director Larry Mitchell, pleased about the transfer coup.
Just one look at the statistics of the Krefeld native speaks volumes. In the past eleven seasons he has always collected at least 40 scorer points. It even exceeded the 50 point mark five times. He has already landed in the top five scorers in the league four times. In total, he has scored an impressive 631 points (209 goals, 422 assists) in 792 games to date. This puts him in sixth place in the PENNY DEL’s all-time top scorer list. Only five points behind ERC legend Thomas Greilinger.
“He’s an extraordinary mix of power forward and points collector. Daniel is the first row center category that we’ve always been looking for over the past few years, ”says Mitchell, describing the new addition to the Panther team. “I’ve spoken to Daniel several times in the past few weeks. It was clear to him how ambitious and highly motivated he is. He really wants to be back on the ice. “
“I am really happy to finally be able to play ice hockey again. The many conversations with Larry made me feel good. I’ve also spoken to Doug Shedden. After these positive impressions that I have gained, I think that Ingolstadt is the right place for me to have fun again and to pursue my passion. I am very excited about the experiences I will now have with a new club, ”says Pietta about his involvement with the Panthers.
Pietta made his debut in the DEL in the 2003/04 season for the Krefeld Pinguine, after having previously played in all of the Rhinelander’s youth teams. He spent his entire career – 17 of them as a professional – at KEV. Since the 2014/15 season he has also always been part of the captain’s trio of the penguins.
Pietta has also been an integral part of the German national team since its debut in 2010. In total, he played over 100 games with the eagle on his chest and scored 31 points scorer. He was five times in the squad of the German team for the ice hockey world championship and was on the ice 30 times in world championship tournaments.
