In an entertaining game, the Schanzer could not defeat their feared opponent again.
From the point of view of the fans of the ERC Ingolstadt there is good news and bad news. The Panthers have played their first game after almost nine months – but they lost that against the feared opponent from Straubing. The 2014 champions, who only got really active on the transfer market in the last two weeks, were over two thirds of the better team.
Tim Wohlgemuth brought the hosts ahead of empty stands in the 15th minute, which the Krefeld veteran Daniel Pietta expanded after 34 seconds in the middle section with his first goal in the ERC jersey. Certainly on the defensive, but not consistent enough on the offensive – that’s how the 2-0 lead went into the second break. However, the lack of good chances retaliated in the final third.
An ex-panther becomes a match winner for Straubing
Sena Arcolatse scored for Niederbayern before ex-panther Kael Mouillerat equalized in the 49th minute. The Canadian still seems to have an open plan with the Schanzer, because initially he equalized the renewed Schanzer leadership with newcomer Petrus Palmu, when Straubing had already taken his goalkeeper Sebastian Vogl off the ice. Finally, he was the only shooter to score in the shootout after the five-minute extra time hadn’t brought a decision.
Panther striker Tim Wohlgemuth said after the game: “It feels different without a spectator, because in a certain way you feel unobserved. We currently have a small squad, but we are already competitive. Straubing had already prepared for the Champions Hockey League that was ultimately canceled. That was very good for the first game. Much better than in the last two years. If we continue like this, we will be at a top level in a few weeks.
Ingolstadt late starters compete in the “Bayern Round” against Augsburg
On Sunday, the Schanzer will compete in Straubing for the second Danube Derby. A week later the panther derby against Augsburg takes place. No substitute for the failed playoff series last spring, but still an important test in this strange pre-season, in which some teams have already played more than ten preparation games, the Schanzer went on the ice for the first time – and only in the last Weeks of execution in terms of squad planning.
The last transfer for the time being – Emil Quaas is moving from the cops from Munich to Ingolstadt – was announced today, and the Panthers announced that neither Brett Olson, who is moving to Krefeld, nor Mike Collins will return to Upper Bavaria.
