Cologne –
Far away from the nationwide discussion about its role in the scandal surrounding the results of the withheld abuse study, Cologne’s Archbishop Rainer Maria Cardinal Woelki made a statement.

Despite the vaccine, Woelki sees the corona crisis far from over. Even if everyone will soon be vaccinated, this does not mean that “we can go back to our old life,” the Archbishop said to the Cologne Internet portal domradio.de.
A year ago, on January 27, 2020, the first corona case was detected in Germany. According to Woelki, “we initially underestimated the virus and the disease”. A year ago, few experts feared that it would change and affect life so radically. The virus is sometimes still underestimated today.
Cologne: Woelki consequences of Corona are not yet foreseeable
The long-term symptoms of the disease and the consequences of the protective measures against the pandemic are still far from foreseeable. “What about the kids at school who can’t catch up with the material? What about increasing domestic violence? What about the mental illnesses that are increasing? ”Asked Woelki. “If we’re honest, we still haven’t found a good answer to that.”
