ERACS Delivery Method, Fast Recovery after C-section

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

After undergoing surgery Caesar, mothers generally need a long recovery time. But now, world innovation health allows Caesarean delivery to recover faster with the ERACS method.

The ERACS delivery method is also known as Enhanced Recovery After Caesarean Surgery. Obstetrics and gynecology specialist at Pondok Indah Bintaro Jaya Hospital, Zeissa Rectifa Wismayanti said the ERACS delivery method is a delivery process that is applied in a Caesarean section with the aim of shortening the postoperative patient care period.

The ERACS delivery method also allows the birth process to be less painful.

“Every delivery process or any surgery must cause pain to the patient who performs it. But through this ERACS, the surgical process is less painful,” said Zeissa in the webinar on Quick Recovery Methods in Labor, Friday (15/10).

Zeissa said that every mother who gave birth using the ERACS method could carry out activities and take care of the baby faster. For example, walking to the bathroom, breastfeeding, to sitting comfortably without pain from moving a lot. These problems usually often appear after a regular C-section.

“It’s no different from giving birth vaginally, which makes it easier for mothers and faster to move freely,” said Zeissa.

Zeissa explained that ERACS is a development of the concept of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) which is commonly applied in many operations, apart from childbirth.

A patient who has surgery or surgery using the ERAS method can recover more quickly. They can cut down on the time spent in hospital post-surgery

“Then this concept was developed in the Caesarean delivery method, which is the system for delivering it by surgery,” he said.

Zeissa said the ERACS method was first performed on patients who were about to give birth in 2013 in England. In Indonesia, there are only a few hospitals that have implemented ERACS for mothers who want to give birth by Caesarean method.
