According to experts, there are currently increasing signs of a slowdown in the US economy, and the current very high inflation remains an issue. If, contrary to expectations, this should not decline in the foreseeable future, the central bank would probably have to counteract this with a stricter monetary policy.

With a view to individual companies, the reporting season continued this Thursday. Strong growth in investment banking and asset management helped Bank Morgan Stanley to significantly increase profits in the second quarter. However, the fixed income business disappointed. The shares fell in pre-market US trading by more than one percent.

Thanks to good business in the first half of the year, the health insurer UnitedHealth raised its profit target for 2021 again. The joy about it was only brief, however: the shares lost pre-market profits and were recently slightly in the red in the gloomy market environment.

Meanwhile, Netflix’s plans to enter the video game business with the hiring of an industry veteran are becoming more concrete. Investors were delighted: the papers gained just under two percent in the pre-IPO business./la/eas
