NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The US stock markets increased moderately in the middle of the week. The industrial rose 0.22 percent in early trade to 33,984.30 points. The market width gained 0.51 percent to 4011.48 points. The technology-heavy increased by 0.93 percent to 11,664.93 points
Fresh inflation and economic data already had a slightly positive impact on the indices before the market opened. The increase in producer prices weakened in December for the sixth time in a row and also more sharply than expected. In addition, retail sales fell surprisingly sharply in December. Industrial production fell much more sharply in December than economists had forecast. The central bank’s economic report (“Beige Book”) is still on the agenda for late trading.
