Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) views that there are separate challenges in building infrastructure in an archipelagic country. One of them is equality Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX).
In fact, the interconnection between IIX will affect the speed of internet traffic in an area. Head of APJII Coordination and Regional Development, Zulfadly Syam, said that IIX is a unit that cannot be separated from infrastructure. internet.
“The function of the IIX is actually to reduce traffic from Indonesia that runs abroad. Because our country is an archipelago, it means that we also have to make interconnections between IIX. It’s different if we build in a country that is not an archipelago,” he said in a statement received, Tuesday (15/6/2021).
He said that prior to IIX, content traffic that was accessed by users had to be connected to networks abroad. It makes the content transfer process time consuming.
To put it simply, Zulfadly describes someone who sends email at close range. To do that, the email will first enter the overseas network, then enter the network in Indonesia and then be received by the destination.
“It shouldn’t be like that if there is IIX. This method is enough to reduce the cost of internet traffic. If you don’t take this step, equal distribution of internet access will stumble with such a large expense,” explained Zulfadly.
