Norway-listed Equinor and German energy firm Securing Energy for Europe, a former German subsidiary of Gazprom, signed a $50 billion deal. euro long-term gas contract. This is one of Equinor’s largest contracts, marking a significant development in the energy sector.
According to the terms of the contract, Equinor will deliver Securing Energy for Europe 111 terawatt hours (about 10 billion cubic meters) of natural gas from January 1, 2024 to 2034 (the contract can be extended for another 5 years) at market prices. The agreed volumes are equal to a third of Germany’s industrial demand.
