The coronavirus will not be right a second timeTime ! This year the Caen book fair (Calvados) will take place, from May 26 to June 2, 2021. But the event adapts with a 100% digital edition, to follow on social networks.
“To exist in the noise of the world”
Until the end, the City’s teams worked to offer this unmissable literary event.
Despite the constraints, a hundred authors, illustrators and illustrators of general literature, youth and comics and artists, took up the challenge of supporting us in this online edition.
As it does every year, it will deal with major social issues around the common thread “existing in the noise of the world”.
Famous names
- Dominique Wolton. Appointment on May 28, at 9 p.m., for a meeting in the form of crossed portraits of the famous sociologist and novelist Sylvie Germain (Briefs of loneliness). Dominique Wolton will also participate in debates around the themes “journalism facing new information issues” on May 29 at 11:30 am, “what is scholarship for? »On May 31 at 6 pm, and« communication, challenge of the 21st century »on May 31 at 9 pm.
- Marie-Hélène Lafon. On May 29, 2:20 p.m., the winner of the Prix Renaudot in 2020 will debate with novelist Cécile Coulon (A beast in paradise) around the theme “campaign secrets”. On May 31, at 5 p.m., she will offer a reading of her latest hit, Son’s story.
- Gringe. The rapper and actor recently delivered Together we bark in silence, a beautiful declaration of love to his schizophrenic brother. OrelSan’s sidekick will meet you at Lux on May 28, at 3:30 p.m., to talk about his passion for cinema in the wake of the screening of the film. Mutafakaz ; then on May 29, at 7:30 p.m., to discuss this first work.
Birthdays or events
- The Paris Commune is 150 years old. Appointment on May 30, at 1:30 p.m., for a meeting between the historian Quentin Deluermoz, the Norman writer and specialist of the Municipality Gérald Dittmar, and the youth author and screenwriter Carole Trebor.
- Bicentenary of the birth of Flaubert. On June 1, at 7:30 p.m., Marie-Hélène Lafon and Valérie Duclos (At Flaubert’s table) will evoke the famous Norman author, with readings proposed by the company PMVV Grain de sable.
- 10th anniversary of the Arab Spring. On May 30, at 4 p.m., meeting with the historian Leyla Dakhli, the writer Hella Feki, the great reporter Alfred de Montesquiou and Jonas Bochet, the director of the International Institute of Human Rights in Caen.

Meetings for young people
- Period price. On May 26, at 6 p.m., meeting with the five authors selected in 2021: Fabien Clavel, Fabrice Colin, Nadia Coste, Christophe Mauri and Carole Trébor.
- Nathalie Bernard. The author and singer will meet your children on May 29, at 6.30 p.m., for the mini-concert The Last on the Plain ; then on June 2, at 7 p.m., for music reading Savages.
- Rebecca Dautremer. The illustrator invites you to discover Jacominus and I, “A disheveled conference”, June 2, at 4 pm.
For comic book lovers
- Emmanuel Guibert. Guest of honor at this new edition of Epoque, the screenwriter and illustrator will meet you on May 28 for a tribute to Cécile Reims at 7.15pm, and a “jazz concert comic book” by Steady Rollin ‘Alan at 9pm.
- Jérémie Moreau. The author of The Grimr Saga, winner of the Fauve d’or in Angoulême in 2018, will be live from the Alexis-de-Tocqueville library on May 29, with a meeting on the theme “literature and ecology” at 2:30 p.m., and a major interview at 4:00 p.m.
