Thngersheim is a wine village at the gates of Wrzburg, with the vineyards on one side and the Main on the other. A typical Franconian village in which the city walls are still partially preserved. But the idyll is bearing, at least almost 20 years ago. Because in 2003 the 83-year-old Stefan K. was brutally killed there with a hammer. The killer beats K. about 20 times when he is already on the ground.
The sixth episode of “Murder Conversations” is also about the search for affection and “brutally exploited willingness to help”. The Main Post reporter Manfred Schweidler was there at the time and researched the case that shook the region. The crime scene was in the middle of Thngersheim, so the murder did not take place as secretly as the perpetrator would have liked.
The pensioner Stefan K. was known locally. He was half blind and needed everyday help since his wife died a year earlier. And K. was very lonely. In the village it was known that prostitutes visited him regularly and that he would lend his money over and over again. When the wealthy man suddenly lies dead in his courtyard, the neighbors are shocked and at a loss. Who would do such an act in the middle of the village? Speculations about the motive for the murder are making the rounds: Did K. have trouble in the red light district? Could someone not repay their schools with him? What the neighbors did not suspect at that time: The murderer lives in their midst.
