In 1957, the city of Épirey was the second Grésilles bar to emerge, two years after Billardon. But with nearly one hundred additional apartments (three hundred and forty-eight against two hundred and fifty) to meet the need for housing and benefit from the assumption of 85% financing by the State.
It is an understatement to say that this 160-meter-long and 40-wide bar has aged less well than the Cité radieuse by Le Corbusier (Marseille), from which it was inspired. The first rumors of a demolition circulated in 1988, then the announcement was made official, falling like a cleaver: Épirey will disappear on the 1is October 1992.
