Like every 2th Tuesday of the month, the association of blood donors Golbey – Epinal organizes a collection at the Cours space in Epinal. If at the national level, the French Blood Establishment (EFS) has launched a call for mobilization, in Epinal, the collection center displays still high donations.
Donors of spinal blood and surrounding municipalities are present during the blood drives. In addition to the courtyards, towns such as Golbey, Deyvillers, Arches and Archettes offer regular meetings. Mobile collections are also organized in the Lycées Louis Lapicque and Mendès France, the ENSTIB and certain companies.
“You need at least 10,000 bags per day in France to have a correct level of reserve. Blood, we need it all year round. Here we know that we can count on loyal donors ”explains Philippe Carde, president of the association. Despite the health crisis which has reduced the number of donations nationally, each collection in Epinal brings an average of 230 bags of blood, and has been for years.
A large number of donors still regret the closure of the ESF in Epinal. But they continue to donate blood as soon as possible. Vincent d’Epinal is still trying to work out. “I’ve been coming whenever I can since I was 18. One day, my twin brother needed a transfusion and since then it seems important to me to give ”. Marina and Lucie are sisters. They are from Uxegney. “I made my first donation in high school and since then I have continued regularly. Then, I trained my sister Lucie. We have a fairly desirable blood type, but we mainly go there to do a good deed, to help people and to save lives ”.
All donors are welcome, even if the situation is more fragile in Group O, that of universal donors. Doctor Christophe Bullard, to avoid too long a wait, recommends making an appointment on the site: mon-rdv-dondesang.efs-sante.fr or on the Blood Donation app.
