Why the daily increase in the number of covid-19 patients began to rise again over the weekend after a slight decline can be easily explained. And this is the fact that there are now significantly fewer positively tested people per day than at the peak of the pandemic. Now the numbers have dropped to units of a thousand cases, so the fluctuations are more noticeable. They will be affected by any local focus. “Every fifty extra cases, for example, can be seen more,” says Hana Tkadlecová from the Zlín Vaccination Center.
According to the doctor, the relaxation of the measures, which the government started on Thursday, December 3, could not yet be reflected in the statistics. “The current rise in the numbers is definitely not due to a breakdown last Thursday, which he has not yet been able to take part in,” she said, expecting to see repeated fluctuations in daily gains in the coming weeks without any apparent reason.
According to Hana Tkadlecová, the results are distorted by the fact that statisticians began to include people who tested positive for antigen tests. The state began to use them mainly in homes for the elderly. “After the wider introduction of antigenic tests, a relative” deterioration “of the situation could certainly be expected,” says epidemiologist Tkadlecová.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) criticized undisciplined people who ignore the bans in force even after restrictions have been eased. According to him, it was they who contributed to the fact that the daily gains of those infected went up again. He leaned mainly on people who filled a larger number of Old Town Square in Prague. According to Andrej Babiš, there were around a thousand people at one time. “I would like to know who allowed the sale of crawfish and trdelníky in Staromák,” Babiš commented on the weekend in the metropolis.
“Prime Minister Babiš criticizes the people of Prague again. It is said that they ruined Christmas over the weekend. He forgets that the incubation period of covid is about a week. The worsening of the situation has nothing to do with last weekend,”
