Jakarta: Epidemiologist from the Tropical Medicine Center of the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing, Gaja Mada University, Riris Andono Ahmad, said there was a possibility that society would continue to coexist with covid-19. The virus will later become the seasonal flu.
“SARS-Cov-2 can circulate into seasonal flu, from time to time it can mutate, there are variants that spread more quickly or become malignant, it’s a certainty, we don’t know when we will,” said Riris in a virtual discussion, Saturday, July 3, 2021.
Riris gave an example of the case of the Spanish flu caused by the H1N1 virus. The disease had become a pandemic in 2009 and until now the virus is still being found.

Furthermore, most of the world’s population does not yet have immunity to fight COVID-19. It is like dry hay ready to burn.
According to him, positive cases of COVID-19 can quickly spread to every individual. This condition can be minimized by vaccination.
“When most of the world’s population has been vaccinated and infected, the virus turns into a more benign virus,” he explained.
