People gather and chat there both before and after watching the movie
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Epidemiologist Defriman Djafri said the dining area and around the waiting room door are important parts that need full attention and supervision to avoid crowds in order to prevent transmission of COVID-19.
“What needs to be considered is the dining area in the cinema and the area around the door of the waiting room before entering the studio. This is often overlooked. People gather and chat there both before and after watching,” said Defriaman who is also Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Andalas University contacted in Jakarta, Sunday.

Defriaman said that it must be ensured that while watching, all visitors are prohibited from speaking to reduce droplets from visitors who are not aware of opening masks in the studio.
According to him, the management of the cinema must pay attention not only to the time in the studio room, but also when waiting, and after watching, including in the toilet where people usually queue before and after watching.

These areas are often crowded areas of visitors so caution should be exercised in order to increase discipline and adherence to health protocols such as maintaining distance and wearing masks.
In addition, Defriaman said what is also important is that because of the risk of COVID-19 for those who are comorbid or who have comorbidities, they are advised not to go to the cinema.
“So if possible it is prohibited, like smoking in theaters is prohibited,” he said.
