Epidemiologist: Keep Prokes Even though Covid-19 Cases Drop

Vigilance against Covid-19 must continue to be applied by maintaining prokes.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PURWOKERTO — Field epidemiologist from Jenderal Sudirman University (Unsoed) Dr. Yudhi Wibowo reminded the public that they must strengthen health protocols even though at this time daily cases and deaths continue to decline. “Currently, nationally, daily cases and deaths continue to decline. But we must not be careless because the virus is still around us,” he said in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Friday (10/9).

He said vigilance and discipline in implementing health protocols are still a must and become a daily lifestyle considering that currently people are still in a pandemic condition.

“In addition, although there has been a decrease in death cases, in my opinion, it is still going quite slowly, meaning that there are still things that people really need to watch out for, that transmission to vulnerable groups is still happening,” he said.

Therefore, he said, it is very necessary to accelerate vaccination as an effort to accelerate the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, if there is further research that the vaccine is proven to be safe for all ages, it is hoped that the acceleration of vaccination for all ages is expected.

Moreover, he said, vaccination for high-risk groups needs to be accelerated to accelerate the achievement of group immunity targets. He added, to ensure that the public remains obedient and disciplined in implementing health protocols, socialization and education must continue to be intensified.

“Socialization and education regarding the importance of health protocols must be carried out and intensified in order to further increase public understanding,” he said.

He added, in addition to socialization and education, enforcement efforts in the field must also continue to be strengthened in order to anticipate violations of health protocols.

“One of them can be done through judicial operations, of course in humane ways. The goal is to keep people disciplined and not violate health protocols,” he said.
