The CIUSSS de la Mauricie-et-du-Center-du-Québec maintains its call to customers who frequented the restaurant L’Amuse-gueule in Pierreville, between June 2 and June 7, to go for a preventive screening test at COVID-19 since infected people would have frequented the place.
This appeal to all irritates the owner of the place, Martin Michaud, who claims to have always done everything to comply with the sanitary measures in place.
“There are some who have come for supper, there are some who have left, then they came back … me when they leave our place and they come back, I don’t know where they are going. And there, they point the finger at me, ”said Mr. Michaud, met by the TVA news team.
At the CIUSSS, it is explained that this is a measure of last resort, when there is “a serious risk to public health”. However, we refuse to blame the restaurateur.
It would appear that the establishment’s register was not sufficient to conduct the epidemiological investigation in a satisfactory manner. Mr. Michaud says for his part that the only change he would have been asked to make is to note the arrival time of customers.
The establishment has never been closed, but customers have deserted the premises since the CIUSSS announced, according to the owner.
The CIUSSS does not rule out that other establishments are in turn targeted, if epidemiological investigations stagnate. The TVA Nouvelles team was also able to learn that a bar in the neighboring municipality of Baie-du-Febvre, the Club de la Landroche, on the shores of Lake St-Pierre, is closed until June 22 for cause. of COVID-19.
The health authorities did not want to comment on the closure, which is also voluntary, or to make a link between the two events. Several people met in the field, however, did not hesitate to point out that it is not uncommon to see revelers walking from one establishment to another, during the same evening.
On site, the president of the Club de la Landroche explained that after learning that an employee had contracted the disease, he preferred to play it safe by closing for a while. He ensures that all customers registered in the register have been contacted.
