Epicenter owners intend to invest €10 million in it
Volodymyr and Galina Geregi, owners of the construction supermarket chain Epicenter, want to buy the Polish sports chain Intersport by investing €10 million in it, informs Forbes.
The retailer’s CEO Piotr Mykhaylyshyn confirmed that Epicenter is in the process of finalizing a deal to acquire a stake in Intersport Polska.
There are 35 multi-brand sporting goods stores operating under the banner Intersport in Poland. The retailer was not doing well. From April 2022 to March 2023, the company received an annual net loss of PLN 12.8 million, while net income amounted to PLN 239,457, according to the company’s financial report.
“Many clients from Ukraine live in Poland, and it would be logical for Epicenter to build a connection with them in this way. Ukrainian investments are a way to improve both Epicenter and Intersport by joining forces to attract customers, consolidate purchases, reduce costs and risks of logistics“, – explained the rapprochement with the Ukrainian network, the president of Intersport Polska, Marek Kaczmarek.
