Epic is in huge trouble. Apple to phase out Fortnite until at least August 2021

Epic Games Will Lose Millions of Dollars Weekly If Court Doesn’t Intervene

The dispute between Apple and Epic Games continues. Tim Sweeney violated the platform’s rules, so the giant has removed the popular Fortnite Battle Royale from the store, preventing new players from downloading it and updating those who have it. As a result, Epic is said to suffer huge losses every day.

According to recent reports, Apple will not allow Fortnite to appear on the App Store for at least a year. This information is indicated in one of the annexes to the court documents:

“Given the nature of your actions, we will refuse to reapply for the Apple Developer Program for at least one year.”

Apple’s ban is already having a significant impact on Epic’s bottom line. Fortnite users on iOS account for about a third of all Battle Royale players, and they spent “significantly more” on in-game payments than Android users.

Only a court decision can correct the situation. Otherwise, Epic will not be able to re-apply until August 2021.
