The administration of the Epic Games Store digital store, without warning, began forcibly returning funds to users with a Russian account for a game received as part of a recent free distribution.
We are talking about the stealth action game Dishonored: Death of the Outsider – an independent story addition to Dishonored 2, the distribution of which in the Epic Games Store began on February 2 and is still going on (ends next Thursday).
The publisher of Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is Bethesda Softworks, which has suspended its activities in Russia, but the game was available to EGS users with a Russian account for the first hours. Now it has begun to be taken away.
As was the case with the Kerbal Space Program three weeks earlier, a letter from the Epic Games Store speaks of the successful return of funds spent on the purchase of Dishonored: Death of the Outsider (that is, 0 rubles).
Why the distribution of Death of the Outsider was available to Russian players at all is an open question, but this is not the first time EGS has been weird with gifts: at the end of December, the store mistakenly made the director’s version of Death Stranding free, and not the usual one.
