Epic Games throws fists in all directions and edges. The gaming giant is in the middle of a big feud with Apple regarding whether the App Store is anti-competitive and now Epic has sued Nreal, which works with mixed reality glasses. According to Epic, Nreal’s name is the culprit in the drama and claims that the name both looks and sounds like Epic’s Unreal, which Epic has trademarked in ten different ways.
Chinese Nreal launched its first glasses in South Korea last year and plans to release these in the US during the current quarters and the companies have jointly tried to come up with a solution with the Unreal name without success, which is why the lawsuit is coming now and not sooner. With the lawsuit, Epic wants Nreal to withdraw its trademark application and for Nreal to pay a sum for pain and suffering.
