Epic Games Collects IDR 714 Billion Donation for Ukraine from Fortnite Sales

KOMPAS.com – In the midst of the onslaught of Russia, Ukraine flooded donation humanity from all sides. One of them from Epic Gamesgame maker Fortnite.

Epic Games will donate all of the company’s revenue from purchases made in the game Fortnite during the period March 20 to April 3.

Well, as of March 23, Epic Games has managed to collect donations with a total of 50 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 714 billion. This amount was collected in just four days.

This was announced directly by Epic Games through the official Fortnite Twitter account.

“As of today, we have raised $50 million together in a humanitarian aid fund to support people affected by the war in Ukraine,” wrote the @FortniteGame account on March 23.

Previously, the @FortniteGame account reported that it managed to collect donations of 36 million US dollars (around Rp. 514.8 billion) on March 21. Then, accumulated donations rose to 50 million US dollars as of March 23.

There is no further information on how many total donations Epic Games has collected, as of today, Friday (25/3/2022). What is clear is that the total Epic Games donation will be more than IDR 714 billion because the donation collection period will still last until April 3.

In announcement Previously, this donation to Ukraine coincided with the start of the new season of Fortnite Chapter 3.

Epic Games itself details the income that will be donated, namely from sales of V-Buck packages, Fortnite Crew subscription fees, Battle Passes to certain cosmetic packages.

According to the official Epic Games website, the aid will be channeled to Ukraine through several humanitarian organizations including Direct Relief, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
