1539.- Pope Paul III approves the first statutes of the Society of Jesus and the following year confirms them by means of a papal bull.

1770.- King Carlos III declares the Grenadier March as a March of Honor or Royal, which, by custom and popular roots, will be established as the National Anthem under the reign of Isabel II.

1783.- Signature, in Paris, of the peace treaty that puts an end to the War of Independence of the American colonies from Great Britain and George III renounces his overseas possessions.

1939.- After the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany, Great Britain and France declare war on that country, while Belgium declares itself neutral.

1943.- The Government of Marshal Pietro Badoglio signs the surrender of Italy to the allied forces, during the Second World War.

1953.- The “Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms” drawn up by the Council of Europe and inspired by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights enters into force.
