MEPs are expected to come to Bulgaria in September or October

The monitoring group at the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs in the European Parliament will send its mission to Bulgaria, the European Parliament told BNR.

The decision was taken today in camera behind closed doors and will be confirmed by a written procedure tomorrow.

MEPs are expected to come to Bulgaria in September or October.

The deployment was approved by representatives of the three largest parliamentary groups – the European People’s Party, the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats and “Renew Europe”.

The EC has announced a new strategy: Bulgaria to become a member of Schengen

The demand is from the Socialists and has been for several months.

Today, however, a special meeting was convened due to the US sanctions announced yesterday against a group of high-ranking Bulgarians for corruption.

The group consists of 14 members of the parliamentary committee – two from each political group. The only Bulgarian member is Elena Yoncheva of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.
