The “Pure Nature” eco-organization warned that environmental problems threaten the Central Burgas Beach and its adjacent part of the Sea Garden.
In connection with the second year of the Spirit of Burgas festival, seven stages are being built and a visitor camping site with a capacity of 3,000 people has been allocated. Environmentalists warn that the damage that visitors will cause to nature in the fest area will be significant.
“Despite the generously proclaimed measures taken by the Municipality of Burgas to organize the musical event, which is spectacular in its scale, the question is logical: why is it being held in the central part of the seaside city, given that similar initiatives in developed European countries are located at a certain distance from the populated areas places and under suitable living conditions”, ask the ecologists.
“I don’t want to comment on anonymous initiatives, especially since we have reported several times how the festival will proceed and what measures have been taken, both to protect the cleanliness of the festival town and for the peace of citizens. In my opinion, this is a provocation. Last year we became famous for our cleanliness and perfect organization. At the moment, 130 ecotoilets are placed at the festival venue, there is a security guard, the garbage from the containers will be removed twice a day by the company “Titan”, and we have also hired additional people for maintenance of cleanliness”, announced Mihail Kutsev, director of “Summer Theatre, Festivals and Concerts” in Burgas Municipality.
