“Environmental Action” discusses developments in “integrated waste management”

The Emirati Council for Environmental and Municipal Action, chaired by Her Excellency Maryam bint Mohammed Al Muhairi, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, discussed in its first meeting the directions and requirements of the Council’s future work, developments in preparation of the national strategy project for integrated waste management and waste transformation projects at the state level.
The meeting, hosted by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, at its headquarters in Dubai, represents the first meeting of Council members since adoption by the Council of Ministers led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Sovereign of Dubai, last May, the decision to establish the Council.
Her Excellency Maryam bint Mohammed Al Muhairi said: “Achieving the goal of quality of life in line with the goals of the UAE Vision 2071 depends on a number of main pillars, the most important of which is the construction of a sustainable society Therefore, the Ministry will work in collaboration with the members of the Emirati Council for Environmental and Municipal Action to complete the results of the joint committees since 2009, to ensure the adoption of all criteria to achieve sustainable development.
He added: “The council will work in the next period to propose the general basis for strengthening joint work in the field of the environment and related municipal services. Propose regulations, laws and policies to ensure more effective private sector participation in related projects. And work on integrative initiatives and projects related to the environmental and municipal fields. Improve and develop scientific studies and research in related fields.
The board approved the short-term (six-month) action plan, which included the implementation of the national strategy for integrated waste management and the launch of a series of transformative future projects, which support the adoption of standards of circular economy, and others.
The council examined a proposal for a three-year medium-term action plan in the areas of joint work between all competent authorities in the public and private sectors, improving the quality of life, the most important initiatives and projects related to the environmental and municipal sectors, and governance and accountability mechanisms.
Board members discussed a number of future transformation projects in the areas of the environment and the municipality.

Promote joint work
During the meeting, the council discussed the results of the joint committees since 2009 and the Emirati Council on Climate Change and the Environment since its establishment in 2016, at the municipal and environmental work level, and the nature of the tasks of the Council of the Emirates for environmental and municipal action, which include the promotion of joint work in the field of the environment and related municipal services at the level The state among all components and groups of society, the strengthening of the legislative and legal structure to ensure a more effective participation of the private sector, promoting and developing scientific studies and research, and discussing the requirements and directions for future work in line with the directions of the state and the directives of its wise leadership.
