The Spanish series Intervías was positioned this week as the most watched non-English speaking series globally on the Netflix streaming platform, during the premiere of its third season.
The series features Cuban talent among its main roles, as both actress Laura Ramos and Cuban-American actor Fidel Betancourt Matos are part of the cast. It was the latter who broke the news on social networks.
Through his Instagram account, Betancourt announced that the series is at #1 in the global top, celebrating the success obtained after three seasons.
The series has stood out since its premiere for its dramatic cut and its human portrait of various social and personal issues. Last November, during the Almería International Film Festival, Ramos was nominated for her role as Gladys as Best Actress in a Drama.
The production, a collaboration between Telecinco and the streaming giant, earned five nominations at that festival, including Best Drama Series, Best Direction and Best Creator of a series.
Ramos, 44, is remembered in Cuba for her participation in the series Four Seasons in Havanaas well as the films Amanda’s Prophecies y Operation Fangio.
In its first week of release, between February 26 and March 3, the series managed to be number 1 in the world ranking, with 4 million views worldwide.
In its second week in the top 10, the first season of the series is also in fifth place. Since its premiere, the third season of Intervías It has accumulated more than 40 million hours viewed, as detailed by its production company in a statement.
With the Madrid neighborhood of Vallecas as a backdrop, the plot focuses on Tirso Abantos (José Coronado), an unconventional grandfather whose life changes radically with the arrival of his teenage granddaughter, Irene Abantos, a young woman of Vietnamese origin, talkative and with modern rebel spirit.
