An eyewitness had called the police after encountering the boy alone on the street. The boy was barefoot in his pajamas. His parents were also nowhere to be seen, so officers took the boy to the police station.
Not much later, the police received a report of an ‘abandoned place accident’ in Overvecht: a motorist had run away after he or she had rammed into two parked cars. The car turned out to be in the name of the child’s mother.

The woman’s story revealed that her son probably got behind the wheel. The woman told police that her child is quite ‘enterprising’. “We then saw that he gestured with his hands into a collision and made a steering movement,” writes the police on Instagram.

According to the police, the boy woke up when his father went to work. The child took the car key to go for a drive, resulting in a collision and damage to two parked cars. The boy then got out and ran away in his pajamas.
“Fortunately, this mini driver’s adventure has ended well,” the police concluded.
