An entrepreneur from Linz experienced a nasty surprise in the course of an alleged loan transaction on the Internet.

While looking for a provider for a loan to buy a house, the 55-year-old man from the Linz-Land district came across the website “ORYS – PAY – The fattest bank with you”. After registering, the supposed loan provider contacted him via messenger.

An agreement was reached for a six-figure loan. The man then confidentially transferred a six-figure sum to various foreign bank accounts in 40 individual transactions, assuming that this would cover the down payment and notary costs.

Only later did he realize that he had become a victim of fraud because the loan he had hoped for was ultimately never paid out.
