Santiago. A businessman promised to donate the site for the construction of a house for a mother with mental disorders who lives with her three children in a shack on the verge of collapse.
Likewise, representatives of the National Council for Children (Conani) and the Ministry of Labor, which are fighting to eradicate child labor, agreed to provide psychological assistance to minors and support so that they can receive education.
In the edition of Thursday, March 18, elCaribe published the story about the situation that Antonia Aquino Alcántara is going through, she is a woman of just 29 years of age, who lives in poverty in the Santa Lucía neighborhood of the Cienfuegos sector of the municipal district Santiago West.
Before the publication, businessman Carlos Bermúdez contacted Pastor Pablo Ureña to inform him of his desire to contribute with the donation of the land to build a decent house for Aquino Alcántara and his family. The plot is located in the community of Jacagua.
Although the news is encouraging, now it is necessary for other people or entities such as the National Housing Institute to come to their aid to build the new home, because neither the lady nor her relatives have the financial resources to build it.
Antonia Aquino Alcántara’s relatives fear that at any time the house where she lives and her three children, 16, 12 and 10 years old, could collapse at any time with everyone inside.
The wooden shack covered with rags is located on a slope in an area vulnerable to landslides, so they fear it will collapse. Pastor Pablo Ureña, who was interested in the case, thanked the helping hand of businessman Carlos Bermúdez.
He said that in the same conditions dozens of families are found who built their houses a few meters from a ravine.
