Entre Ríos launches Bordet-led Flu Vaccination Campaign

This Friday, at the Pagani Health Center, Governor Bordet, together with the Minister of Health, Sonia Velázquez; the director of that health institution, Gastón Sors, and the president of the Iapser Foundation, Mariel Ávila, participated in the launch of the National Flu Vaccination Campaign simultaneously with the entire country. “We are here at the Pagani health center, with the Minister of Health, with the director of the center and the entire team that is participating in this National Vaccination Campaign that today is launched simultaneously throughout the country and, of course, in our province and in the 17 departments will become active,” said Bordet. He explained that in this first stage, in addition to health personnel, pregnant mothers and children up to six years of age are vaccinated, to then vaccinate the rest of the population at risk, and noted: “Vaccination against flu protects all influenzas that may be turning in the winter Vaccination against the flu and all that respiratory diseases mean, in a certain way, has allowed us to reduce infant mortality, something that we have been doing for a long time and today, both Argentina and Entre Ríos register the lowest historical rates. This is the result of work that is often silent but effective and that is put into practice to achieve the highest vaccination standards. So in this sense, this year very early, as it is this time in March, We are going to have great vaccination coverage and we have teams prepared throughout the province to be able to carry them out,” Bordet stressed. Recognition of Health personnel “With the Health personnel, I always said it and highlighted it, I am deeply grateful. In very difficult times, with the pandemic, it played a very prominent role in Entre Ríos and the best way to thank is not with words or grandiose phrases, but with deeds and in these deeds we ordered the transfer to the plant of more than 1,100 agents who for many years they had job instability.” In this context, he also mentioned “the nursing law that I am finishing to regulate. I estimate that next week we can already have the list of regulations and its application. A lot was also invested in health infrastructure and equipment, such as the x-ray equipment that we bought in a significant amount and the 150 ambulances that we have purchased or the new health centers”. Health strategy For her part, the Minister of Health, Sonia Velázquez, indicated that “logistics began after the arrival of 62,000 doses” and announced that “there are 52,000 already in the Health Services Network, which includes municipal health centers and provinces, in addition to hospitals that have their vaccinations enabled for this purpose”. In this way, “what concerns logistics and distribution is reinforced and strengthened, which is part of a vaccination master plan and what is prepared annually for the winter campaign.” He spoke of “a public policy that begins with the flu vaccination simultaneously throughout the country, in addition to other own actions in advance at this stage of the year”, and specified that “the prioritized group is people between six months and two years old, pregnant women, postpartum women, health personnel and security in this first stage, and then the other prioritized group will be people over 65 years of age and people with risk factors that the call will disseminate in a timely manner,” he explained. Having said this, Velázquez remarked that “vaccination is very important because with the arrival of winter in the coming months, viral circulation is very important, and vaccination as a health strategy is successful in reducing the prevalence of morbidity and mortality diseases Despite this, the population continues to be urged to complete the schemes of the national vaccination calendar, of Covid and the reinforcements of Covid “. Finally, the head of the Health portfolio warned that “other public policies for Social Development are added that have to do with care in the conditions that affect the health-disease process in the winter stage.” 2023 Flu Campaign For this year, the national health portfolio acquired 9,300,000 doses of flu vaccine with the aim of reducing complications related to the influenza virus in the population at risk in Argentina. Of this total, 1,500,000 doses correspond to pediatric vaccines. Planning was designed starting with prioritized groups such as: pediatric population, boys/girls from 6 months to 2 years inclusive, pregnant women, health personnel and security forces. At this stage, 62,000 doses were distributed in Entre Ríos in the network of provincial and municipal Health Centers, and in the 66 hospitals in the province. It should also be noted that, in the framework of continuing to value the vaccination strategy, the new Vaccine Storage Center located in the northeast region of the city of Paraná is about to be inaugurated, together with the National Ministry of Health. . It should be remembered that the flu or influenza is a highly transmissible respiratory viral disease. Generally, most of those affected recover in one to two weeks. However, it can cause serious complications, including death, to people aged 65 and over, young children, pregnant people and people with risk factors. That is why the doses of the campaign are aimed at health personnel, pregnant people (at any time of pregnancy), postpartum people, girls and boys from 6 to 24 months of age (who must receive two separate doses at least 4 weeks), all people aged 65 and over, and people between 2 and 64 years with risk conditions such as heart, respiratory, and kidney diseases, immunosuppression, obesity, and diabetes, among others. The flu vaccine is free for the target population, does not require a medical order, and can be applied along with any other vaccine.
