The new Deputy Director of the State Center for Political Education Baden-Württemberg (LpB) will be Prof. Dr. Reinhold Weber. In its meeting on October 13, 2020, the LpB’s Board of Trustees followed the proposal of Parliament President Muhterem Aras. He succeeds Karl-Ulrich Templ, who retired on September 1, 2020.
Prof. Dr. Reinhold Weber has been with LpB since 2003. Initially, he was editor-in-chief of the didactic magazine “Politik & Studium” and the scientific book series “Schriften zur Politische Landeskunde Baden-Württemberg”. As a proven expert in state politics and state history, he has made a name for himself in the state with numerous publications on Baden-Württemberg. From February 2018 to August 2020 he headed the LpB department “House on the Alb” in Bad Urach. Since September 1st, 2020 he has been the head of the LpB department “Media and Methods” and in this role also Deputy Director of the LpB.
Prof. Dr. Reinhold Weber studied modern history and English at the universities of Tübingen and Manchester. In 2003 he received his doctorate with a research thesis on the history of parties and elections in the south-west of Germany. Since 2013 he has been an honorary professor at the Department of Contemporary History at the University of Tübingen. He is a member of numerous scientific advisory boards and boards of trustees.
