Gal Gadot, Amy Schumer, Jerry Seinfeld
(CNN) — More than 700 entertainment professionals signed an open letter expressing their support for Israel and condemning Hamas while Clashes continue in the Middle East.
Gal Gadot, Amy Schumer, Mayim Bialik and Jerry Seinfeld are some of the signatories of the letter published this Thursday by the non-profit organization Creative Community For Peace.
Chris Pine, Liev Schreiber, Debra Messing and Mark Hamill are also among the signatories.
The letter calls on entertainment leaders to “speak out strongly against Hamas and do everything in your power to urge the terrorist organization to return innocent hostages to their families.”
“This is terrorism. This is evil. There is no justification or rationalization for Hamas’ actions,” the letter continues.
Israel reported that at least 1,200 people were killed and thousands more injured in Hamas attacks over the weekend. According to Israeli authorities, Hamas is holding 150 people hostage in Gaza.
At least 1,417 Palestinians, including 447 children and 248 women, have died since Israel began attacking Gaza following the deadly Hamas attack on Saturday, October 7, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Another 6,268 people have been injured, the ministry added.
The letter also includes a warning urging public figures in the entertainment world to “refrain from sharing misinformation about the war” and to avoid amplifying any “propaganda.”
“Our thoughts are with all those who are experiencing unfathomable levels of fear and violence, and we look forward to the day when Israelis and Palestinians can live together in peace,” the letter concludes.
