The entertainment industry, one of the largest on the island, has numerous artists who have created strong ties of friendship and brotherhood over the years. Since there are so many of them, it is impossible for them to decide to give each other gifts on special dates like Christmas.
But, as they say that “what counts is the intention,” El Nuevo Día asked some television and music figures which colleague they would give this Christmas, what they would give him and why. The responses were as creative as the work they do every day.
The merenguera Gisselle Ortiz, the singer-songwriter Jerry Rivas and the journalist Tatiana Ortiz were three of those interviewed. For their part, Angelique Burgos “Burbu”, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Shirlyan Odette They belong to the list of lucky ones who will have an “imaginary gift” this year from one of their friends.
At first, Gisselle did not dare to give a specific name, as she assured that she has “many” friends and “she loves them all equally.” However, after a short time, some memory came to her mind and she said: “Oh, look, I choose Angelique.”
The gift for Burgos would be nothing more and nothing less than “a certificate for singing classes.” According to the presenter and announcer’s wife, the gift is accompanied by the wish that one day not too distant both of them can sing together on a stage like the Coca-Cola Music Hall.
Something similar happened to Rivas. The member of El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico assured that “there are many people who love” music. One of his great friends is “the gentleman of salsa” Gilberto Santa Rosa.
To search for the imaginary gift, Rivas needed time. “Gilberto has everything, so what am I going to give him,” he said. In fact, the interpreter asked for a few additional minutes to look for that ideal detail.
Finally the text arrived: “I would give Gilberto a course to learn how to guide.” To this he added a smiling emoji. “The question was not easy, but that gift is what would be very useful,” read another text.
Immaterial gifts were also present. This was the case of Iván Rivera, trumpeter of Plenéalo. The musician agreed with his colleagues on the point that he considers many of his colleagues “great friends.”
While he was thinking, he remembered Ismael, from the band smile, whom he described as “a fine guy, a good human being and a great artist.” Rivera added that “Algarete is one of the groups that works the hardest and for us it is an honor to have it as a friend.”
The gift to Ishmael from his friend would be “many blessings, health and prosperity for him and his family.”
Others, like Ortiz, decided to imagine big. It turns out that the “The News” reporter would give a ticket to her “colleague and friend” Shirlyan Odette “for the destination she desires, so that she can continue discovering and enjoying the world.”
Julio Cesar Sanabria also had the opportunity to choose a colleague. The selected one was Oscarito Serrano and he would give him 500 banana seeds and 500 coffee trees.
“Oscarito is a lover of our land and its agriculture and I would give him those seeds and those little trees so that he can continue planting this Puerto Rican land that we love with our soul and we not only sing to it but we plant it so that it continues to bear fruit. Oscarito is one of the noblest human beings I have met in this industry and in the 43 years of my career I have to recognize that he has been a friend, a colleague and unconditional support,” said Sanabria.
“Oscarito is not only an extraordinary and versatile singer but also a great friend,” he added.
