Monday, June 13. Crack, crack, crack
The Belgian Nathalie published in 1983 the song “Mon coeur qui craque”. The chorus was completely forceful: “My love, uh!, won’t let you down; Ecoute mon coeur qui cracracraque”. Come on, that she bet on love and that her heart was cracking, cracking, cracking. The same thing is happening with bitcoin and the passionate army, quite youthful indeed, who pin their hopes on wet dreams of opulence. The price of bitcoin plummets and has caught the NFT generation in their panties.
“You treat me like a child who always runs, who always sleeps. I love you anyway, you have driven me crazy with your crazy love”, intoned Nathalie. Well that. But hey, everything comes out.
Tuesday, June 14. Residences
I received an old article by Tania Moerenhout published in the Journal of Medical Ethics blog, dependent on the medical journal The BMJ, entitled “The problem of nursing homes is not covid-19, it’s nursing homes.” She hasn’t written about residences for the elderly for a long time and, look at her, she already played. There is much talk of a change of model, but I do not see in what direction. Tania points out some principles that are already being tested out there. The thing would be to distribute coexistence in small groups of ten or twelve people, change the current hospital environment where only health and safety are monitored for that of a home, preserve the autonomy and responsibility of people as much as possible , consider caregivers as guests in the coexistence space instead of forcing residents to follow rigid schemes established from above, and listen to internal people to try to keep them having a purpose in this life. Is there someone? Listen?
The truth is that an ethical approach to the issue is required. There are approaches today that see older people as a problem for the younger generation. Tania gives as an example an episode of the science fiction series Star Trek Next Generation. In this episode, set in the 24th century and shot in 1991, people are shown who, at the age of 60, embark on a ritual suicide to avoid becoming a hindrance to their children. Whether that story remains a dystopia or becomes a reality depends on our will.
Wednesday, June 15. at home
Last week I was chatting with my friend Anabel about the subject of prostitution and I found that there are fewer and fewer brothels in my area. That must be a consequence of depopulation. Anabel told me that, perhaps, now the services were at home. “Do you think so?”, I replied, questioning her statement a bit.
Well I was wrong. There is a lot of hustlers and I don’t stop surprising myself. Today Diario de Teruel publishes another of its mythical covers and only recounts facts, without a headline: “He took advantage of the fact that they were vulnerable immigrant women / He offered them as prostitutes / He took them through towns in Lower Aragón / Sometimes he stayed more than half the money from the sexual service / He charged abusive prices for acting as a ‘taxi’”. The only thing I’m glad about is that the hustler will find his bones in jail for the next eleven years.
Thursday, June 16. Pride
Palma de Mallorca Pride week is cancelled. Too many controversies for so few saddlebags. The populace of the interior of the island will continue to wonder what a lesbian looks like. And not only that: the mayor has dismissed the Councilor for Social Justice, Feminism and Equality, Sonia Vivas. A river uprooted, gain of fishermen.
Kristin Hansen, the organizer of the event who has such a particular look at the rural world, has already announced a fight: “We are going to file the appropriate legal actions against the City Council and all those responsible for the cancellation of Palma Pride Week 2022 and for all the damages caused, both to us and to the artists, collaborators and tents”. Of the field he has no idea, but of laws, of laws he knows them all.
Friday, June 17. Rights
The Popular Party and the Workers’ Commissions agree to criticize the decision of Spanish Television to cede to Basque public television the broadcasting rights for the San Fermín running of the bulls so that it can make a broadcast in Basque. According to the union, the running of the bulls is one of the jewels in the crown of TVE. For the PP, it is an unaffordable decentralization for the entity that offers the running of the bulls for all of Spain.
The general secretary of the Popular Party in Navarra, Amelia Salanueva, wants to know what the voice will be, after the retirement of Javier Solano, and the hours that the running of the bulls will occupy in the retransmissions. Amelia, dear, bull runs have always been at eight in the morning. that you look new
Saturday, June 18. Tetamen
The talk of the week is being the cleavage of Patrícia Plaja, the spokeswoman for the Government of the Generalitat, in the Els Matins program on TV3. Patrícia left the house, grabbed a t-shirt that she felt comfortable in and headed to the set. She began the interview and, in the first break, her characterization team approached her to raise her cleavage almost to her neck. The controversy was served. Catalan public television censors boobs.
The memory comes to me of when I stepped on those TV3 production controls, five years ago, and I imagine some filmmaker yelling “What a boob! Let them cover it already!”. The truth is that from the production screens, life is seen in a very different way from the set. I also imagine a field of turnips at the controls of the technique. I look for the file of the program and, look, no. In the Els Matins team there are many more women than men. Also in the part of the buttons. Suddenly, my theory of machismo in control falls under its own weight. I will have to evaluate some other hypothesis.
Sunday, June 19. Seriousness
Balance! Irene López, who was the official psychologist of Save me, has confessed this week that the Telecinco program came to sink her professional career. “They did not call me from anywhere because she was the psychologist of Save me. She hurt me a lot and closed a lot of doors for me, she didn’t open any for me, ”says Irene. So she had no choice but to leave the variety space although she “was happy as a partridge” because she loves entertainment and “had a great time, she enjoyed herself like a dwarf”.
What a cross for those of us who dedicate ourselves to entertainment! Nobody takes us seriously even if we are governed by rigor. Here only those who live by and for seriousness, boredom and solemnity prosper.
The image of the week. ‘balcony’
A couple of Saturdays ago I was at a popular party in the Plaza de Sant Bult in Valencia. My friend Paula, who is one of the thinking souls of the roost, insists that she not miss it and I can’t say no. The placeta is a pocholada, really. What happens is that it has been filled with tourist flats. I think about it and shudder. A pot was thrown from one of them and it fell to me less than two meters away. I am here by miracle. Could it have been a conspiracy organized by certain Teruel groups that have a grudge against me? The balcony of another of those apartments for tourists from outside Spain, the one that appears in the photograph, was packed as soon as the music played. There were times when I feared for his safety. And I wonder if they believe that here we take a mobile disco to the streets every weekend for enjoyment. What a distorted image they are going to take away! I wish it was always like this.
