They have always fascinated civilizations. Whether domestic or wild, animals have always held a special place in the hearts of men. A source of inspiration from childhood, they do not leave artists indifferent either. It is to pay tribute to our winged and four-legged friends that the Jacques-Brel center has decided to devote an exhibition to them. Venture into the ark of Puzzle and let yourself be charmed by Bestiaries until March 25th. Ten regional, but also national or even world-famous artists have made their works available. Forty are to be admired and will take you back in time to the 19th century.

Forty works, ten artists

In the white room, Sébastien Gouju’s sparrows in enameled earthenware will surprise you with their realism. Next door, Bertrand Gadenne’s giant owl will catch your eye and intrigue you. In the Weisbuch area, the black cat made in drypoint by Jacques Linard will make you want to pet it. In the dark room, you will be fascinated by the skeleton of the wolf made from steel wire which required 1,200 hours of work by Sandra Bednarski. Raise your head and observe Cédric Leborgne’s sparkling jellyfish. “He also designed the 6-meter-long carp that can be admired at nightfall on the Puzzle forecourt,” invites Caroline Rinaldi, the director. Do you prefer photography? Impossible to remain unmoved by the two shots of the Englishman Nick Brandt. “He is a committed artist who fights against poaching. »

An aesthetic and educational look

Images of Épinal have also been made available and engravings by the Nancy designer Grandville will take you back to the fables of La Fontaine. “We have the real, the imaginary, the contemporary as well as older works. We wanted to highlight the aesthetic and dreamlike side of the animal but also to have a more scientific approach. »

School visits are planned and others commented. “Various activities on the theme are announced at Puzzle such as workshops, conferences, readings. » Admission to the exhibition is free every afternoon from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. “We have planned a visit in sign language on February 11 at 2:30 p.m..” With Bestiaires, Puzzle has succeeded in seducing all audiences, from kindergarten on.
