“We have been contributing to different locations in the area. Although I work in San Pedro itself, I have colleagues who are in Toconao, Talabre, Camar, Socaire and Solor. In one way or another, we have covered many areas, hopefully there will always be more because we want to reach the most remote places in northern Chile”.

Within the framework of this collaboration agreement, various calls were made for management teams and teachers to attend online training courses taught by the “Schools that Learn” program; training was carried out for secondary school teachers for the correct use of the “Canales Enseña” platform that contains material from “La Radio Enseña”; educational podcasts that seek to reinforce in an entertaining and innovative way, as well as content so that they can continue learning, all this added to an improvement in digital connectivity systems, which began in 2022.

For the Mayor of the municipality of San Pedro de Atacama, Justo Zuleta, this is an important benefit, “which gives the possibility of reaching this SQM initiative and which involves not only educational support, but connectivity support for boys and girls who do not have an internet signal that can support the learning processes”.

A 2023 that will seek to increase and consolidate support through the different lines of action of the Foundation, as well as to be able to specify “UnlimitED”, an initiative that opens the way to global education in rural schools through the installation of a satellite antenna to improve the internet connection and the use of applications that make it possible to take advantage of this connectivity in education.

The regional director of Enseña Chile, Paulina Olguín, thanked the company for its commitment and indicated that “being able to continue with this alliance in the region allows us to directly impact the education of hundreds of students who live in the San Pedro de Atacama commune. We appreciate SQM’s motivation and commitment to join in this purpose of bringing education closer to and contributing to establishments in the area. The needs that are lived in locations further away in our north are varied and we are encouraged by being able to contribute”.

Project that is inserted in the community axes that SQM has in its sustainability plan around education, but also social development. Laura Noguer, head of the Shared Value Program at SQM Salar, highlighted that: “our lines of community action allow us to focus relationship strategies and shared social value. Initiatives like these that improve education through support that began with teachers and training, and that today seeks to bring them closer to technological tools through connectivity, which will benefit the social development of the towns of this region over time. commune.

An agreement that will celebrate its third year seeking to deliver elements that are necessary for learning today, not only with a local perspective, but also with a global knowledge of the reality of the world.
