Disseminator of secret military documents AS, Jack Teixeiraunderwent his first trial on Friday (14/4), one day after being arrested by the FBI on Thursday (13/4) afternoon.
In the courtroom, as reported CNNthere was a scream from the man who was later confirmed to be Jack Teixeira’s father.
“I love you, Jack,” shouted the father.
“I love you too, yeah,” replied Jack Teixeira without turning his head to where the voice came from.
Throughout the trial, Jack Teixeira did not say much. He also only responded briefly and slowly to the judge’s statement regarding his rights as a criminal defendant.
“Yes,” replied Jack.
In the first trial, Jack Teixeira was also told that he would face two charges related to the distribution of secret Pentagon military documents.
The first indictment is the unauthorized storage and transmission of national defense information. Meanwhile, the second indictment is the illegal removal and storage of documents or confidential material.
The judge then scheduled a follow-up hearing on Wednesday (19/4). Jack Teixeira will certainly remain in custody until the next trial. Nor did he enter into a formal defense.
After being arrested, information about Jack Teixeira was revealed. He is an enlisted pilot in the Massachusetts Air National Guard, who joined the service in September 2019,
According to Air Force data, Teixeira, who is now 21 years old, has earned one Air Force Medal of Achievement, which is a relatively standard medal for pilots of that age and rank to receive.
However, the USAF said Jack Teixeira’s official job was a Cyber Transportation Systems journeyman.
According to their statement, Cyber Transport Systems specialists are tasked with ensuring a wide global communications network and for the service to operate properly.
Attorney General Merrick Garland said he was arrested in connection with the alleged unauthorized removal, storage and transmission of classified national defense information.
“FBI agents took Teixeira into custody this afternoon without incident,” Garland said.
He also stated that Teixeira was undergoing trial in a federal court.
