Elshinta.com – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Service (Dinkes) asks the entire public to be aware of the presence of enlarged lymph nodes which is one of the typical symptoms of monkeypox (monkeypox) in a number of parts of the body.

“If you find symptoms monkeypox such as fever, leaks filled with water or sores on the skin, especially accompanied by typical symptoms monkeypox “that is, if there is a lump or enlarged lymph node, immediately come to a health facility for a laboratory examination,” said Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization Section of the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Ngabila Salama, to ANTARA in Jakarta, Thursday.

Responding to the discovery of a new case in Jakarta, Ngabila said that enlarged lymph nodes caused by monkey pox can appear in the armpits, neck, groin or thigh folds.

If people find similar symptoms, it is recommended to immediately go to the nearest health facility to get a laboratory examination, while avoiding complications and death through early detection.

The examination also functions as a case tracker if there is close contact with a positive person. Because monkey pox can be transmitted through droplets such as phlegm, sneezing or saliva that contaminates the environment or hands, skin contact, wound contact, body fluids, and sexual contact.

If the close contact has never had any symptoms at all, he said, then there is no need to be examined oropharyngeal swab or throat, swab leather, swab anus, and blood tests.

“However, we will monitor every day whether any symptoms appear. If symptoms appear, further laboratory tests will be carried out,” he said.

Ngabila also explained that if you are infected, the incubation period from being infected until symptoms appear can be quite long, namely three to 21 days. Meanwhile, it takes two to four weeks to heal, that is, if all the wounds are completely dry and new skin appears.

Therefore, as a form of self-protection, people are advised to maintain personal hygiene by diligently wearing masks and washing their hands with running water and soap.

It is hoped that people can avoid physical contact with people who are sick, have safe, clean and healthy sexual relations by using condoms, and avoid facial contact with the face, mouth, skin and everyday items used by sufferers.

“Vaccination monkeypox “It already exists in Indonesia in limited quantities and is intended for high-risk groups,” he said.

The Ministry of Health’s Health Transformation Communication Technical Staff added that the government continues to monitor close contacts every day. Case investigations are carried out actively to explore the course of the disease and the source of infection so that spread does not occur and breaks the chain of transmission.

Previously, it was known that on Saturday (14/10) the Ministry of Health reported that it had found a new case of monkey pox in DKI Jakarta.

The patient is a resident of Jakarta and has no history of traveling abroad or out of town. Symptoms that appear include fever, enlarged lymph nodes in the groin, water-filled blisters and scabs starting on the genitals and spreading throughout the body.

Due to this new finding, there have been two cases of monkey pox in Indonesia, after the first case was discovered on August 20 2022.
