“We are very surprised by the great response of the listeners. We see and feel that people specially come to our concerts and it is a great joy and satisfaction, because we can give a special sound of classical music in so many different districts of Riga. The last of our concerts was in Arcadia Park by the children’s playground, where all the children sat on the grass and listened to opera music, instead of playing in the children’s playground. For us musicians, this is the biggest compliment from children”, says one of the cellists of “Melo-M”, Kārlis Auzāns.
The concert program includes pieces from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera “The Marriage of Figaro”, Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Bohème”, Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Rigoletto” and many other classical music pieces, thus making the sound and singing of classical music accessible and enjoyable in person for everyone listening.
It is also possible to enjoy the original music of the composer Kārlis Auzāns, composed specifically for three cellos, giving the audience the opportunity to hear and see a virtuoso cello trio. At the end of the concert, one of the most popular songs from Raymond Paul’s musical “Sister Carrie” “The Sad Story of Carrie” will be played.
The concerts are implemented with the co-financing of the Riga City Council as part of the 2023 Riga Summer Culture Program.
