Enhancing Municipality Sustainability Through Tailored Support and Collaboration: The Role of the ESD Competence Center

We use our practical and scientific expertise in a targeted manner: After a mutual agreement on goals, the municipality works with us to create an implementation plan for support. Three to five appointments take place per municipality each year, for example as consultations, workshops or reflection discussions. After a year, the municipality, together with the ESD Competence Center, looks at what has been achieved and the implementation issues and adjusts the planning for the process for the following year. We also bring the results of the formative evaluation carried out in parallel into the support of the municipality. The municipalities can benefit from the BNE Competence Center’s offerings during the period of funding from the BMBF.

Since every municipality is unique, we adapt our technical and methodological impulses to the local conditions. We also organize networking and peer learning situations at regional, national and international levels.
