Enhancing Monetization Opportunities: TikTok Introduces New Features to Retain Creators

TikTok wants to retain creators in the long term with new monetization options

Specifically, creators can now also share non-live content with their paying fans in this package. The new option for making money on TikTok offers creators further incentives to attract more users with more creative and exciting content – which in turn would have a positive effect on the platform. TikTok explained:

Subscriber-Only Videos are exclusive videos that only subscribers can view. The new perk encourages interactions beyond the LIVE room, enabling subscribers to like, comment, and reply to one another, helping creators foster even more meaningful connections with their community.

TikTok strives to develop a more effective and profitable revenue program for creators in order to keep them loyal to the entertainment platform. By expanding the LIVE subscription package, the ByteDance subsidiary also aims to maximize interest and opportunities for streaming creators. Ideally, TikTok will also use the new monetization option for live stream commerce – because there have been no major successes in this area so far.

In autumn 2022, TikTok launched its own shop area in the USA after it had previously been tested in Great Britain. Meanwhile, sellers from different markets can access the e-commerce section. But only a few TikTok users are enthusiastic about the live shopping offer of the platform, at least not in Europe and the USA. TikTok is only seeing significant live commerce growth in East Asian markets, but Western audiences have yet to embrace the concept, which has been a huge hit with the platform’s Chinese counterpart, Douyin. In fact, live commerce has now become Douyin’s top revenue stream – parent company ByteDance had hoped to replicate that success for TikTok.

TikTok is currently testing a new shopping section in the UK version of the app called Trendy Beat. By selling its own products, the entertainment platform competes with Amazon, SHEIN and Temu.

However, the big break hasn’t materialized yet, and TikTok is being forced to develop other revenue-maximizing options, including creator subscriptions and the Facilitate brand collaborationsto direct earnings to top talent.
